French construction sector reduces by 0.4% the GDP growth in 1H14

Although housing starts recovered to 400,000 units after the crisis, they have fallen back to around 300,000 estimated for this year, when the official target was 500,000.

Consequently, it is estimated that the stagnation of the construction has cost 0.4 percentage points to the French GDP growth in the first half of 2014, during which presented zero growth, forcing the government to revise its 2014 estimate of GDP from + 1% to + 0.5%.
