Last week the Ukrainian government suspended preparations to sign the document at the Eastern Partnership summit, which is set to begin in Vilnius on Thursday, reports Rzeczpospolita

“We are not Soviet but European Union,” read the banners carried by protesters, who told Rzeczpospolita “they would like their children to have a future instead of being condemned to Russian slavery.”

According to the daily, Sunday’s protests were a “huge success for Yanukovych’s opponents”.
