Spanish Retail Sales Go Back to Positive Rates

After adjusting the calendar and seasonal effects, the annual change registered a 1.9% variation, which is two points and two tenths lower than that registered in October.

Retail sales, not including service stations, registered an annual change of 2.8% at constant prices. Breaking down the sales by type of products, we can observe that Food increased 0.8% and Non-food products increased by 4.3%.

After adjusting the calendar and seasonal effects, all products registered positive rates, as compared with the same month of the previous year except Personal equipment which increased 4.6%.

All distribution classes increased their sales as compared with November 2012. Department stores (5.2%) and Large Chain stores (5.1%) registered the highest increases. After adjusting the calendar and seasonal effects, Large Chain stores registered the most positive rate (5.0%).

All Autonomous Communities increased their sales, as compared with November 2012, except for Castilla y León (–0.3%). In turn, Illes Balears (8.3%), La Rioja (5.6%) and Comunidad Foral de Navarra (5.2%) registered the greatest increases.
