Media Terminals, Myth Or Reality?

Fernando González Urbaneja | I will not be so naïve as to hold up the impartiality, objectivity, neutrality, independence… of the media and journalists. Too many years in the profession to remain trapped in that angelic vision. We are not neutral and independence goes by neighbourhoods, topics and times. Each media outlet, each journalist has his/her preferences, biases, sympathies (and antipathies that may not be very bearable) in more or…

Campanella | Media outlets have published news that based on a World Bank report China’s economy will be the world’s largest in terms of purchasing parity power (PPP) by the end of 2014. Yet, China itself did not welcome the news. The World Bank included a note in its report that the country’s National Bureau of Statistics contested the methodology and rebuffed the report. The Financial Times even reported how China tried to convince World Bank analysts not to use the data. “China wanted to throw this out,” one source said.

Media: New offers and suppliers change business from scratch

The Corner via Deutsche Bank Research | For a long time, technological progress in the world of media has surpassed the improved image display via screen diagonal or contrast by far. This is not only shown by the gadgets which the TV viewer may use for his or her personal analysis of the games of the FIFA Football World Cup. This opens completely new opportunities and business models for the large field of visual media.

Are Spanish media betting on King Juan Carlos again?

OP-ED By Julia Pastor | Spaniards disaffection with monarchy sank to lowest levels in 2013 after several embarrassments and corruption scandals affecting the Royal Family. But as King Juan Carlos wraps up his 6th visit to UAE on Wednesday, Spanish media of all political signs are sticking to his diplomatic role. The monarch is seeking to open doors for Spanish infrastructure companies. Only Abu Dhabi’s subway is to raise €8 bn.
