Telefónica sells its data centers to reduce debt

Telefónica TechTelefonica Tech buys German cloud services firm

Banc Sabadell | Telefonica will decide in the coming days between the binding and final offers it has on the table, namely Digital Realty, Equinix and Brookfield’s. The price would be around 500/600 million euros. The Spanish tech company has 23 data centers in 9 countries.

Details about the eventual operation remain unclear (multiple sales, timing and operations and implications for the potential business of data exploitation), although the positive point would be the company’s commitment to accelerate its inorganic debt reduction. However, the size of the operation would be limited (c.1.2% net financial debt) and the impact would be insignificant.
