New tourism record: 85.6 million tourists visit Spain in 10M25, average spend of €1,383 Per Person

The Tourist Movement in Borders Survey (FRONTUR), published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), reported that Spain received 9.2 million international tourists in October, an increase of 3.2% compared to the same month in 2024. The United Kingdom was the main country of residence for tourists arriving in Spain during the analyzed month, with more than 1.8 million tourists and an increase of 2.8% compared to October 2024. Germany accounted for 1.3 million (a decrease of 3.1%), and France 1.2 million (an increase of 0.1%).

In the first 10 months of 2025, the number of tourists who visited Spain increased by 3.5%, reaching 85,697,314 tourists. The accumulated figure up to October is the highest in the INE’s FRONTUR series. In those 10 months, the main issuing countries were the United Kingdom (with over 17.1 million tourists and an increase of 3.9%), France (with nearly 11.4 million tourists and a drop of 0.1%), and Germany (with nearly 10.8 million tourists, up 0.8%).

On the other hand, and according to the Tourist Spending Survey (EGATUR), also published by the INE (National Statistics Institute), the total expenditure made by international tourists visiting Spain in October reached €12,785 million, an increase of 7.4% compared to the same month in 2024. Likewise, the average expenditure per tourist was €1,383, representing a year-on-year increase of 4.2%. For its part, the average daily expenditure grew by 5.5% year-on-year, reaching €201.

The main source countries in terms of spending level in October were the United Kingdom (with 17.2% of the total), Germany (12.6%), and France (7.8%). Spending by tourists residing in the United Kingdom increased by 3.6% year-on-year, that of those from Germany decreased by 3.3%, and that of those from France grew by 9.5%.

In the first 10 months of 2025, the total expenditure by international tourists increased by 7.0% year-on-year, reaching €118,612 million.
