Spain, Belgium, and Austria are the only eurozone countries that have not yet submitted their accounts for next year. However, Spain is the only one of the three countries that does not have a caretaker government and cannot blame the delay on an electoral call. Countries were required to submit their budget plans to the European Commission by October 15.
In a joint statement, the finance ministers of the eurozone pointed out: “We expect the medium-term plans and pending budget plan drafts to be submitted as soon as possible” … “A shared currency implies shared responsibilities,” the statement emphasizes. The Eurogroup thus joins the request made nearly two months ago by the European Commission and demands Spain’s budget plan for the upcoming fiscal year. The economy and finance ministers of the eurozone have urged governments that have not yet submitted their accounts for 2025 to do so as soon as possible. Spain is on a list of three countries in an exceptional situation, as it is the only one without a caretaker government following an electoral call.
