Banc Sabadell | This Tuesday, the major electricity companies —Endesa, Iberdrola, Naturgy and EDP— must publish their low-voltage network distribution map, revealing the availability for new consumer connections, which should be completely saturated. This situation would affect more than a thousand companies with pending projects, especially data centres and large industries, which could be forced to relocate if they cannot obtain a connection.
Assessment: With the distribution map ‘full’, or so saturated that significant connections are unfeasible, the electricity companies will have another element of pressure against the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) following the proposed remuneration of 6.46% for the new 26-31 electricity network framework (lower than the 7.5% they were demanding); They will continue to argue that without adequate remuneration they will not be able to invest in expanding the network, and will use the saturated map as a key argument.
