The shares recording the biggest gains are ArcelorMittal and ACS (up 1.8% and 1.5% respectively), whilst Acciona has plummeted by more than 7% following news that Tussen de Grachten BV, a company linked to the Entrecanales Franco family, has sold 1.65 million shares in the company.

The Ibex 35 opened Tuesday’s session with a rise of 0.09%, enabling it to breach the 20,000-point mark for the first time in its history. Shortly after the start of trading, the Madrid Stock Exchange extended its gains to 0.27%, reaching 20,036.9 points.
The Spanish benchmark index had already closed at a new high on Monday, having risen by 1.01% to 19,982.6 points.
On Tuesday, the Spanish stock market’s main index hit a historic high at the opening before losing momentum and beginning to trade flat. At 10.39 am to be precise, the Ibex 35 was up 0.08% and stood on the verge of 20,000, at 19,998 points. The Spanish index’s year-to-date gains stand at 15.48%.
Who’s up and who’s down
Notable movements on the index include ACS’s rise of 1.63% and Acciona’s sharp fall of 7%, after Tussen de Grachten BV, a company linked to the Entrecanales Franco family, sold 1.65 million shares in the company – representing 3% of the share capital – for around €359 million.
Among the blue-chip stocks, Inditex fell by 1 per cent; Iberdrola by 0.34 per cent; BBVA by 0.36 per cent; and Telefónica by 0.37 per cent; whilst Santander rose by 0.13 per cent and Repsol by 0.19 per cent.
