After 22 years of the enforcement of a Gender Violence Law that overturns the presumption of innocence for men without the need for any evidence, 46.1 percent of young Spaniards claim that “promotion of women’s equality has gone so far that men are now being discriminated against.”
This is one of the findings from the “Youth and Gender” barometer prepared by the FAD Foundation, which should prompt reflection on the effects that official feminism and gender ideology are having on young people (between the ages of 15 and 29). The reality is that 51 percent of male youth view feminism as a political tool for manipulation; an opinion shared by a significant 38.8 percent of female youth.
The report warns that negative perceptions of feminism among young people encompass three main ideas. The first is that feminism is a “tool for political manipulation and indoctrination,” with 45.3 percent in agreement and 22 percent against. The second is that feminism seeks to pit women against men: 35.2 percent believe this, compared to 36.2 percent who do not. And finally, that feminism is unnecessary because equality between men and women already exists, with 31.2 percent in favor versus 34.7 percent who hold the opposite view.
In short, the data from the latest 2025 Youth and Gender Barometer—conducted by FAD Juventud and presented this Tuesday—reveals a growing discontent within the collective imagination of young people regarding egalitarian principles, which they perceive as “leaving men at a disadvantage compared to women.”
