Number of mortgages taken out on homes in Spain grows 0.6% year-on-year in October, compared to 12.2% in September

Link Securities | In Spain, the number of mortgages taken out on homes in October was 52,198, representing a 0.6% year-on-year increase (12.2% in September). According to the INE, with October’s year-on-year increase, the signing of mortgages on homes has now risen for 16 consecutive months. In addition, the average amount of these transactions was €167,080, representing an increase of 10.4%.

In 10M25, the number of mortgages for the purchase of a home increased by 18.4% year-on-year, with increases of 33.4% in the capital lent and 12.7% in the average amount of loans granted.

In October, the average interest rate for mortgages on homes was 2.81% and the average term was 26 years. 38.7% of mortgages on homes were taken out at a variable rate and 61.3% at a fixed rate. The average interest rate at the start was 2.79% for variable-rate mortgages on homes and 2.82% for fixed-rate mortgages.
