Link Securities | The company has put into operation in Alarcón (Cuenca) the first two large batteries in Spain, a milestone in the development of large-scale energy storage in the country, according to a statement issued by the company on Friday and reported by Bolsamania.com. These are the Romeral and Olmedilla batteries, each with a capacity of 60 MWh and a power output of around 30 MW, capable of storing enough emission-free energy to supply electricity for two hours to more than 13,000 homes.

During the construction phase of both systems, more than 100 jobs were created, with the participation of national suppliers, including the Guipúzcoa-based company Jema, responsible for the construction of the integrators. According to the company, the project once again highlights the role of renewable energies as a driver of skilled employment and industrial growth in Spain. The batteries are integrated into a hybrid technology that shares a connection point with the 50 MW Romeral and Olmedilla photovoltaic plants, both located in the Olmedilla node. Each storage system consists of six 4.5 MW converters and one 2.25 MW converter, as well as 13 battery modules of 4.66 MWh each.
