Link Securities | The Council of Ministers has approved the agreement authorising Aena to purchase a controlling majority, directly or indirectly, in companies in the United Kingdom for the acquisition of shares in the English airports of Leeds Bradford and Newcastle, the financial portal Bolsamania.com reported yesterday. Specifically, this transaction will allow Aena to acquire 51% of the new holding company that owns and manages 100% of Leeds Bradford Airport and 49% of Newcastle Airport for €309 million (approximately £270 million). It should be noted that this transaction is in addition to AENA already managing 51% of London Luton Airport in the United Kingdom. Leeds Bradford and Newcastle airports recorded some 9.5 million passengers in 2024, which, added to Luton’s 17 million, means 26.5 million passengers in the United Kingdom.
