British authorities approve expansion of Luton, 51% owned by Aena, for around €2,880 million

Luton

Renta 4 | The relevant authorities have agreed to give the green light to the expansion of capacity at the British airport Luton, in which Aena has a 51% stake and which in 2024 accounted for just over 5% of the group’s EBITDA with 16.7 million passengers.

Current capacity is set at 18 million passengers, but it has already been agreed to expand it to 19 million. This new expansion aims to increase capacity to 32 million passengers by 2043 through an investment of £2.4 billion. Aena’s concession ends in 2032.

Assessment: We will see if the concession period is extended and if Aena is in charge of this development or if this concession is put out to tender again and for what period. At the moment we have no information on the matter, but we understand that the chances of this happening are favourable, which, depending on the return on investment generated, would be good news for Aena.

P.O. and recommendation under review (previous maintain, P.O. at €199.70).
