Alphavalue/ Divacons | Electricity demand in Spain grew by ‘just over 3%’ in 2025, consolidating the upward trend after the 2.3% rebound in 2024, according to projections by the International Energy Agency (IEA). This acceleration will continue with an average annual increase of ‘just under 2%’ between 2026 and 2030, a rate that the agency describes as ‘well above’ the meagre average of 0.4% recorded over the last decade.

The IEA attributes this upturn to the momentum of new industrial activity, the electrification of heating and transport, and increased tourist activity in the country.
