Grifols’ Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Hyperimmune Globulin Begins Clinical Trial In Patients With COVID-19

Grifols has announced that its anti-SARS-CoV-2 hyperimmune globulin has started a clinical trial to test its safety, efficacy and tolerability. This medicine provides a consistent concentration of purified neutralizing antibodies and could be used for both prevention and treatment of the disease. The clinical trial is the latest phase of an initiative that goes back to March when Grifols started work on its anti-SARS-CoV-2 hyperimmune globulin as part of a collaboration with U.S. government agencies.

Renta 4 | Faes Farma will expand its industrial capacity with a new production plant in Derio (Vizcaya) in order to meet the strong growth expected by the company beyond 2024. The estimated investment will be around €150 M. This will be implemented over the next 4 years and will require an increase in staff of about 200 workers. The new plant will be located in the Zamudio Technology Park, with the potential to manufacture more than 100 M units of medicines.

CAF Is Awarded A Contract In France With Bombardier Worth €2.56 Bn

The French public transportation operator RATP has selected the offer of CAF and Bombardier to supply 146 trains for the second busiest suburban line in Paris for a joint value of €2.56 Bn. The consortium would have beaten the bid made by Alstom which could have offered a price 500M euros higher than that of the Spanish-Canadian consortium. In any case, Alstom will complete the takeover of Bombardier in two weeks, so part of the CAF contract will also benefit the French industrial group.

Telefonica Sells Telxius Towers To American Tower For €7.7 Bn In Cash. Is This A Threat For Cellnex?

Renta 4 | Telefónica announced today that it has signed an agreement with American Tower to sell Telxius’ tower business in Europe (Spain, Germany) and LatAm (Brazil, Peru, Chile and Argentina). The price of the deal is 7.7 billion euros, payable in cash. It includes the sale of some 30,722 sites to be carried out in two separate operations. Although American Tower still has little exposure in Europe (some 30,000 towers after the Telxius purchase), it represents the main threat to the leadership position of another Spanish company, Cellnex, with over 103.000 sites

The boards of directors of Unicaja and Liberbank finally approved the merger of the two lenders. Unicaja will control 59.5% of the resulting entity, while Liberbank will own the remaining 40.5%. This operation creates the fifth largest national banking group, which will start operating from June, with an asset volume over €108 Bn. Enagás and Naturgy will work together to develop the largest hydrogen plant in Spain in León. The aim will be to produce up to approximately 9,000 tons per year of renewable hydrogen from a 400 MW photovoltaic plant and an electrolyzer of up to 60 MW. The energy generated will not only be used to cover local consumption, but will also be injected into the gas network and be an option for future export to northwestern Europe.

Banco Santander Launches LandCo, A Land Management Company With A Gross Value Of €4.5 Bn

Banco Santander has once and for all launched its land management company, transferring 13,000 assets from the bank with a gross value 4.5 billion euros.
