Mapfre To Receive €571m Compensation From Caixabank For The Break-Up Of The Bancassurance Alliance With Bankia

Mapfre has reached an agreement with Caixabank on the insurance business and announced a restructuring of the Spanish business. The compensation to be received by Mapfre for the break-up of the bancassurance alliance with Bankia amounts to 571 million euros. Mapfre Lifts Net Profit 15.2% To 609 Million Euros In 2019

Mapfre recorded a 15.2% increase in 2019 net profit to 609 million euros, with revenues up 7.1% at 28,472 million euros. The company headed by Antonio Huertas will pay 447 million euros in dividends from 2019 results, amounting to 0.145 euros per share and a yield of 5.7%.

Mapfre completes the purchase from Santander of 50.01% of a new insurance broker

Mapfre (MAP) said this week that the acquisition, which had already been announced in January, of 50.1% of a new insurance broker from Banco Santander through its subsidiary Mapfre España has been completed, pending the corresponding authorisations. The broker will commercialise insurance for cars, multi-risk trade, multi-risk SMEs and civil responsability exclusively for Santander´s network in Spain.

The Mutualist Roots Of Mapfre Has Not Let It Keep Up With The Rest Of The Sector

The Spanish leader in insurance has registered a modest performance of +14% in the last two years, the weakest among the insurers analysed at Alphavalue. Since August 2017, when the hurricane season began in the US, Mapfre has not been able to keep up with the rest of the sector. In Alphavalue´s estimates, the company should benefit from a first series of three consecutive years of growth in net profits in the period 2018-20.
