The Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers (Anfac) reports that vehicle production in Spain grew by 8.8% year-on-year in September, reaching 223,468 units. This specific increase is due to the low production recorded in September 2024, caused by the adaptation of some factory production lines to accommodate new electric models, which led to production falling below usual levels that month.
In the accumulated figure through September (9M2025), vehicle production registered a year-on-year drop of 5.2%, totaling 1,702,050 units. Vehicle manufacturing maintains a downward trend, mainly caused by the stagnation in demand from European markets and the adaptation processes in several factories for new electrified models. With these figures, it is expected that the year-end vehicle production will be below 2.3 million units, which would be lower than in 2024.
By vehicle type, 179,721 passenger cars were manufactured in September, representing a year-on-year increase of 9.4%. For their part, the production of commercial and industrial vehicles grew by 6.4% year-on-year in September, reaching 43,747 units.
Regarding exports, 189,636 vehicles were sold abroad in September, a figure 2.2% higher than that of the same month in 2024. However, through Q3 2025, exports registered a year-on-year drop of 8.6%, with 1,461,098 units sold.
By export destination, Europe accounted for 91.3% of exports in September, reducing its share by 1.4 points compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, destinations in other continents such as the Americas and Africa increased their demand, representing 3% and 3.3%, respectively.
