Link Securities | Vueling, a member airline of the IAG holding company (IAG), will invest €5 billion by 2030 as part of its plan to renew its entire fleet by 2035 and increase its capacity from the current 40 million passengers to 60 million in the future, according to the newspaper Expansión. The company’s president, Carolina Martinoli, presented the group’s long-term objectives in Barcelona on Wednesday.
In the first stage, until 2030, it expects to allocate around €5 billion, which includes the acquisition of the 50 Boeing aircraft already assigned to it by IAG, its parent company. However, the overall investment will end up being much higher, as Vueling currently has 130 aircraft, all from Airbus (AIR), but the airline plans to switch them all to Boeing (BA-US) to simplify operations and maintenance.
The new aircraft will reduce emissions by 20% and have more seats. The €5 billion announced today also includes items for sustainability, customer experience, and technology. Martinoli said that the objectives are “achievable” and that Vueling is starting from an “exceptional position” in terms of “results and operations.”
