Israel Railways will activate a contract option with Vossloh España, the Spanish subsidiary of the German Vossloh Group, and purchase nine more train Euro3000 locomotives . Last year, Vossloh España provided 15 Euro3000 units and 14 Euro4000 ones. Israel Railways has already been delivered 73 locomotives designed and manufactured in Vossloh España’s factory in Valencia.
The €100-million initial operation has now been extended at a further €30 million value. Israel Railways chose the Euro model, which Vossloh España exclusively produces and can reach a speed of 160 km per hour. The units will be integrated in the current passenger service network of Israel Railways.
In January, Vossloh España received its first UK order of fifteen Eurolight locomotives, a diesel-electric model praised for its weight-power relation (less than 20 tons per axle and 2.800 Kw power). The contract was worth roughly €50 million. The Spanish division closed another international deal to supply six Euro4000 locomotives to Beacon Rail to be leased to VFLI for freight services in France and Belgium. Other 77 vehicles of this type had been supplied to Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Germany, Israel, Sweden and Norway.
The Vossloh Group is made up of around 90 companies operating in nigh 30 countries. In fiscal 2011 the Group employed a workforce of 5,000 and generated sales of around €1.2 billion. Close to 80 percent of total sales originated from business outside of Germany, especially elsewhere in Europe, while the non-European share was about 30 percent.
