Spain’s Appeal For Investment In Renewables

The national installed capacity of renewable energies between 2006-2021 has increased significantly, especially wind and photovoltaic energy. As pointed by Intermoney, they have grown 139% and 9,110%, respectively. Similarly, the installed conventional energy (coal and fuel + gas) has decreased with declines of 53% and 73%, respectively. Spain would also exceed the European targets for the penetration of these energies with 42% compared to the European 38-40%. For the experts of Renta 4, the very strong operational and financial growth of the companies will be coupled with the growing trend of ESG.

These projects would make it possible to generate 17.32 terawatt hours of wind power on a national scale. This is equivalent to 30% of the increase in wind power generation envisaged in the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC).

Oil Demand: Down But Not Yet Out

It will take three years for global oil demand to recover from Covid to its new normal assuming we have a vaccine or a cure. According to estimates from BoA Global Research, long term oil demand will peak at 105 million barrel/day by 2030 on electric car proliferation, and then decline to 95 mn bd by 2050. If heavy vehicles also switch to alternative fuel, electric or more likely hydrogen, demand could drop to 76 mnb/d by 2050.
