Link Securities | Acciona Energía (ANE) has completed the installation of a photovoltaic self-consumption system at the production headquarters of GrafTech, a world leader in the manufacture of graphite materials, in Ororbia (Navarra), according to Bolsamanía.
The installation, which began operating in mid-February, has a total power of 1.56 MWp and will generate approximately 2 GWh of renewable electricity per year. Given the high energy demand of the production centre, the system has been configured in self-consumption without surplus mode, allocating all the energy generated to the plant’s own consumption.
The agreement reached between the two companies provides for a 15-year on-site PPA formula under the ‘energy as a service’ model, whereby GrafTech contracts the long-term supply of renewable electricity, while Acciona Energía covers the investment required for the installation, operation and maintenance of the system. This model allows for progress in decarbonisation and optimisation of energy costs without the need for the customer to make an initial investment.
