The pros and cons of a two-speed euro

At a time when euroscepticism is on the rise in Europe,  debate also continues over the pros and cons of a two-speed euro.

Those in favour argue that a multispeed Europe already functions in the European Union’s  most important policies, while those against believe that a two-speed euro would perpetuate divisions and undermine the EU’s basic ideals.

Philippe Waechter, Chief Economist at Natixis Asset Management, says a two-speed euro is not a good idea as he believes that it would herald the end of the euro area.
