CAF consolidates its position in France with the rehabilitation of 43 trains for ParisCAF's train in Nantes (France)

CAF has secured a contract in France for the rehabilitation of regional trains for 121.3 M€. According to the train builder, CAF was awarded the contract to rehabilitate 43 regional trains in France, which form part of those offering services in metropolitan Paris and the rest of the Île-de-France region, for a total of 121.3M€.

The company believes that this contract “consolidates” it business in France, where it has secure a “large number” of projects in recent years, among which feature the supply of trams for the cities of Nantes, Besançon and St.Etienne, as well as the rehabilitation of the fleet of trains on the line D of the Metro in Lyon.

As a result of the current project, by which it will have to deliver the first rehabilitated trains in 2020, CAF will guarantee the uniformity of the vehicles and improve the comfort of the passengers.

The new design of the trains will cover “new and modern interiors”, which includes LED lighting, as well as a renewed external image. Moreover the trains will be provided with video surveillance systems, information screens for passengers and a system to allow communication between people with limited mobility and the driver.

Last year CAF finished the financial year with an order book of 6.8 billion €, a historic figure.
