The second edition of the Invest in Spain Summit brought together executives from 75 multinational companies from 25 different countries yesterday at Madrid’s Teatro Real. Alongside the Government’s economic and innovation teams, they analyzed investment opportunities in strategic sectors linked to the green and digital transformation, which will continue to be growth engines for the European economy in the coming years.

During a luncheon with business leaders, the First Vice President of the Government and Minister of Economy, Trade, and Enterprise highlighted:

“If we look at the Business Climate Barometer published by ICEX—based on a survey of more than 700 CEOs and executives of foreign companies established in Spain—85% of respondents plan to maintain or increase their investment levels in our country in 2026.”

The largest corporate representation comes from the United States, Spain’s leading investor, followed by China and Japan. There is also a significant presence from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, India, Germany, France, and Italy. Additionally, companies from markets such as Canada, Denmark, Sweden, Singapore, and Morocco are participating, highlighting an increasingly diversified and global investor base.

Spain is home to more than 22,000 foreign-owned companies that generate approximately two million jobs and play a key role in export, industrial, and technological activities. Today, Spain is the 12th largest recipient of foreign investment globally, with a Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) stock of $867,636 million, the highest figure in its historical series.
